Privacy Policy
Effective Date: November 2, 2026
FicShelf (ficshelf.org) is designed to require minimal data from visitors. We do not offer user accounts, collect email addresses, or run advertising trackers.
1. Information Processed Automatically
When you visit FicShelf or run a search, standard technical request data—such as your IP address, browser user-agent, requested URL, and timestamp—is processed automatically by our edge proxy (Cloudflare) and web server to deliver responses, cache search results, and protect the site against automated abuse and denial-of-service attacks.
2. Public Bibliographic Metadata
FicShelf indexes publicly shared fanwork metadata (titles, author pseudonyms, and tags) from public archives and community libraries. Public pseudonyms and work metadata are displayed as part of the bibliographic search index.
3. Third-Party Links & Downloads
When you click a link to view or download a file hosted on a third-party service (such as Google Drive, the Internet Archive, or MediaFire), your browser connects directly to that third-party service. Those external services govern your connection under their own privacy policies.
4. Cookies & Analytics
FicShelf does not use tracking cookies or third-party behavioral advertising networks. Security and edge caching providers (such as Cloudflare) may set strictly necessary technical cookies or headers to detect bot traffic and maintain site reliability.
5. Data Retention & Security
Operational server logs are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for security monitoring, debugging, and traffic management, after which they are rotated and deleted. No method of internet transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time by posting the revised version on this page.
