Terms of Service
Effective Date: November 2, 2026
By accessing or using FicShelf (ficshelf.org), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the site.
1. Search Index & Zero-Hosting Nature of the Service
FicShelf is an automated bibliographic search index and information location tool. FicShelf does not store, host, upload, or control any fanfiction files on its servers. All search results consist of bibliographic metadata (such as titles, author names, and tags) paired with automated links or byte-range pointers to publicly accessible files hosted on independent third-party services, including the Internet Archive (archive.org), Google Drive (drive.google.com), MediaFire, and public archivist mirrors.
2. No Affiliation
FicShelf is an independent community directory and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Organization for Transformative Works (OTW), Archive of Our Own (AO3), Google LLC, or the Internet Archive. All trademarks belong to their respective owners.
3. Third-Party Content & Removals
Because FicShelf does not host the underlying files, we cannot delete files stored on third-party servers. If a file is removed or made private on its source host (such as Google Drive or the Internet Archive), links to that file will automatically stop working. Content owners seeking removal of a file from the internet should contact the third-party host where the file is stored. We reserve the right, in our sole discretion and without obligation, to modify or remove index entries at any time.
4. Acceptable Use & Automated Access
You may use FicShelf for personal, non-commercial reading and research. You agree not to scrape, bulk-harvest, overload, or interfere with the operation of the site or its upstream providers. We may rate-limit, block, or terminate access for any IP address or user at any time, for any reason, without notice.
5. Disclaimer of Warranties & Limitation of Liability
FicShelf is provided strictly on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, availability, non-infringement, or fitness for a particular purpose. We do not screen or endorse third-party links and are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or safety of any external files or websites.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, FicShelf and its operators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the site or any linked third-party resources.
6. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms at any time by posting the revised version on this page. Your continued use of FicShelf after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
